Glen Affric & Strathglass Marketing Association (GASMA) created the Affric Kintail Way in 2014. The trail was essentially composed of existing forest tracks, drove trails and a section of public road.
Within a short period of time GASMA became aware of safety concerns regarding the public road. Users of the trail included bikes and horses as well as those on foot. Although a grass verge alongside the road was earlier deemed suitable it was decided in 2017 that an alternative route was preferable.
Following positive negotiations with landowners an alternative route was decided on and the process of design, planning and seeking funds progressed albeit interrupted by the Covid 19 pandemic.
However, recently progress has been steady and grant awards from SCF totalling £16,000 have covered the cost of surfacing the new sections of track within Strathglass.
