SCF Awards June 2025

Grants awarded in our funding round:

 

Glenurquhart Care Project awarded £750.00 towards a replacement dishwasher for the Glenurquhart Care Centre.

 

Cannich Sports and Recreation Ground Committee awarded £6,000 towards essential groundworks to upgrade and improve Cannich playing fields.

 

Five separate awards for Strathglass & Affric Community Company:

 

  • £1,010.00 towards the popular annual community lunch to be held in Cannich Hall in December.

 

  • £1,000 towards Cannich Winter Sessions, running from November 2025 – February 2026. These monthly events bring together local folk musicians, plus a soup lunch and crafts for children and adults.

 

  • Community Development Officer. Awarded £19,978.30 split over two years, July 2025 & August 2026 and with match funding from Soirbheas. SCF has worked closely with Soirbheas and SACC to help develop this role.

 

  • Traditional Music Project, designed and delivered by Scottish fiddler, broadcaster and composer Bruce MacGregor. The programme, aimed primarily at school children, will run during the Autumn and Winter. It includes school visits, two concerts at Cannich Hall, masterclasses and the development of a Strathglass song book to be produced collaboratively with local school children. SCF has awarded £4,850 towards total project costs of £5833.00.

 

  • £7,550 has been awarded to Strathglass Community Council for a Community Action Plan, Local Place Plan for Strathglass. The plan, which will set out future development needs identified by the community, will be adopted into planning by The Highland Council. The project has also received funding from Soirbheas. A consultant for the project has been appointed, and community consultation is expected to begin early 2026. £5,000 of the SCF award was allocated from the Nicholas McAndrew legacy, kindly made to SCF, via the The Grocer’s charity.
